A Thoughtful, Guided Process.

Every Found in the Grain piece is created one at a time, with care given to both the story and the material. Below is a simple overview of what to expect once a commission is approved.

1. Approval & Deposit

Once your commission request is reviewed and approved, you’ll receive a deposit invoice to begin the process.

The deposit secures your place in the workflow and allows design work to begin. Once the deposit is received, your project officially moves forward.

2. Design & Proof

Using the details you shared in your commission form, an initial design proof will be created.

This proof focuses on layout, engraving direction, and
overall balance.

You’ll have the opportunity to review and approve the proof before any work begins. Minor refinements can be made at this stage to ensure everything feels right.

3. Design Approval

Once the design is approved, materials and direction are finalized. At this point, the piece is ready to be created.

You’ll receive confirmation of the production timeline before the work begins.

4. Creation

Your piece is then crafted with patience and attention to detail. This stage is intentionally unhurried, allowing the wood and design to guide the process.

Because this is hands-on, custom work, updates during creation are minimal. Quiet progress is part of the process.

5. Completion & Final Payment

When the piece is complete, you’ll be notified and sent final images if appropriate. A final invoice will be issued at this time.

Once payment is complete, the piece will be prepared for delivery or pickup.

6. Delivery

Finished pieces are carefully packaged and shipped, or made
available for local pickup if arranged.

Clear communication and care are taken at every step to ensure the work arrives safely.

A Final Note

Every commission is different, and natural variation in wood means no two pieces are ever exactly the same. That individuality is part of what makes each piece meaningful.

If questions arise along the way, they’ll be addressed thoughtfully and directly. The goal is a calm, collaborative experience from beginning to end.
